Fair Employment and Housing Commission
The Fair Employment and Housing Commission promotes and enforces the civil rights of the people of California to be free from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations, and to be free from hate violence and threats of violence, pursuant to the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA, Gov. Code, §12900 et seq.).
The Fair Employment and Housing Commission is a quasi-judicial administrative agency which enforces California civil rights laws regarding discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations; pregnancy disability leave; family and medical leave; and hate violence. The Commission engages in five primary activities: administrative adjudication; mediations, regulations; legislation; and public information and training.
The Commission is composed of seven members appointed by the Governor. Current Commissioners are Vice Chair Stuart Leviton, and Commissioners Dale Brodsky, Chanée Franklin Minor, and Danielle Nava. There are currently three vacancies on the Commission.

- COMMISSION RULEMAKING
The Commission proposes to revise its regulations on pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions and its disability regulations.
PREGNANCY REGULATIONSThe Commission proposes to amend its existing regulations on pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 7291.2, et seq.). The initial 45-day public comment period on these proposed amendments ended April 19, 2012. The Commission is now considering all comments that it received through April 19, 2012 and will revise its proposed amended regulations based on those comments. The Commission will consider adopting modified regulations at its next Commission meeting on June 13, 2012 at 455 Golden Gate Avenue, D.I.R. Conference Room, Tenth Floor, San Francisco. The agenda for that meeting will be posted on this website as soon as it is available. After modified pregnancy regulations are adopted at the Commission meeting on June 13, 2012, these adopted modified regulations will be posted on this website for an additional 15 day public comment period. Copies of the Commission’s initial proposed pregnancy regulations, the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, and the Initial Statement of Reasons are posted on this website on the FEHC’s Pregnancy Regulations Page.
