About the Commissioners
The Fair Employment and Housing Commission is composed of seven Commissioners appointed by the Governor with the consent of the state Senate. The Commissioners serve staggered four year terms. Current Commissioners are George Woolverton, Chairman; Tamiza Hockenhull, Vice-Chair; Carol Freeman, Linda Ng; and Carlos Bustamante. There are currently two vacancies on the Commission. Ann M. Noel is the Commission's Executive and Legal Affairs Secretary.
The Commission's sister agency is the Department of Fair Employment and Housing. The Department receives, investigates, conciliates and prosecutes complaints by individuals alleging discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations and hate violence. The Department maintains field offices throughout the state.
Chairman George Woolverton is a partner in the law firm of Stockwell, Harris, Widom & Woolverton in Los Angeles. He has been a member of the Commission since 1999 and Chairman since March 2000. Reappointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006, his term expires in 2010.
Vice-Chair Tamiza Hockenhull is an attorney in private practice and founding member of Hockenhull Law Group, LLC, an estate planning firm in Oakland, California. Appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, her term expires in September 2008.
Commissioner Carol Freeman is a partner with the law firm Morgan, Lewis and Bockius, specializing in labor and employment law. Appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, her term expires in September 2009.
Commissioner Linda Ng is the Safe Drinking Water Office Chief at the California Department of Water Resources. Appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, her term expires in September 2007.
