Fair Employment and Housing Commission
The Fair Employment and Housing Commission promotes and enforces the civil rights of the people of California to be free from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations, and to be free from hate violence and threats of violence, pursuant to the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA, Gov. Code, §12900 et seq.).
The Fair Employment and Housing Commission is a quasi-judicial administrative agency which enforces California civil rights laws regarding discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations; pregnancy disability leave; family and medical leave; and hate violence. The Commission engages in five primary activities: administrative adjudication; mediations, regulations; legislation; and public information and training.
The Commission is composed of seven members appointed by the Governor. Current Commissioners are George Woolverton, Chairman; Tamiza Hockenhull, Vice-Chair; Carol Freeman; Linda Ng; and Carlos Bustamante. There are currently two vacancies on the Commission.
How to file a discrimination complaint: Discrimination complaints are filed with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

- EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY The Fair Employment and Housing Commission (FEHC) is seeking applicants for a Fair Employment and Housing law student extern position (full or part-time) for the spring and summer 2008.
- COMMISSION’S SEXUAL HARASSMENT TRAINING AND EDUCATION REGULATIONS APPROVED The Commission’s sexual harassment training and education regulations submitted to the Office of Administrative Law have been approved. The regulations became effective on August 17, 2007.

The next Commission’s meeting will be on May 6, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. in San Francisco, California.
